Chapter Leadership Update

As we begin our 2019-2020 “Chapter Years”, many of our chapters will be electing new leaders.  Some of us will be stepping into a leadership role for the first time, or moving to one of the many service opportunities available with our organizations.

An important part of our council’s role is keeping track of leadership changes so we can make sure you stay informed about news and resources to help you along the way, and include you in email notices to keep you in touch with the broader scope of things as they develop throughout Trout Unlimited.  To help you get started and to ease the path into new roles and responsibilities, we wanted to post some resources that have helped us along the way.

The video below is a transcription of an orientation teleconference, and walks through many of the things available on the website and in the toolkits.

Again, as you have elections and your chapter leadership changes, please make us aware so we can update our council records and directories, as well as the information TU maintains for your chapter.  Use the form below, or if you’d prefer, send an email to Charles Crolley, our council secretary, and he’ll be happy to take care of these for you.

Chapter Leadership Update

The “Tacklebox”.  Many times when we’re asked for help, we turn to TU’s online “Tacklebox” for answers.  It’s packed with resources specifically for TU program and chapter leaders – marketing kits, program guides, and a host of other things. The most helpful page for most new volunteer leaders is “Chapter Leader Resources”, which brings the most common topics together in one place.

“Leaders Only” Website The leaders-only website is a login-restricted area where you’ll find your chapter roster and other membership tools.  If you need to update someone’s email address, get a list of new, expired or lapsed members for a campaign and other things related to member management, this is the place to turn.

The Volunteer Leadership Manual.  This is TU’s version of a “master handbook” for volunteer leaders.  It defines roles and responsibilities of chapter officers, provides guidance on things from serving alcohol at events to fundraising resources and volunteer leader development.

Council & Chapter Leader Directory.  If you need to get in touch with one of our council or chapter officers, we’ve provided a directory for you to download.  If you have a question or need some help and advice, we’re only an email away.
